A deeply devout excursion to the Holy Monastery of Panagia Kato Xenia, to watch the unique representation of the Deposition of Christ, a custom that moves a multitude of believers from all over Greece every year.

Departure at 13:00 from Agios Vissarionos Square towards the Monastery, which is located near Almyros, in a beautiful natural environment with rich vegetation. The history of the Monastery is lost in the centuries, with the first indications placing its foundation between the 12th and 13th centuries. An important relic is the miraculous icon of Panagia Xenia, which is a pole of attraction for the believers.

During Good Friday we will watch the impressive representation of the Deposition. In a climate of deep emotion, the priests and the faithful follow the procession to the hill that symbolizes Golgotha. There, the ceremonial Descent from the Cross takes place, with particular reverence, while the body of Christ is placed on a white sheet and the procession of the Epitaph follows to the cave where the burial takes place. The atmosphere is complemented by mournful marches, creating a unique spiritual experience.
